On the theme ‘Voice of the Voiceless’, the Global Family of the Samoa Victim Support Group from New Zealand and Australia joined with members here in Samoa for the annual global meeting during the official opening of the meeting today.

Held at the Travellers Point Malifa, the opening ceremony was an SVSG Family event.  The opening prayer was conducted by Reverend Seilala Luamanuvae of the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa, and a former staff member of SVSG, who encouraged the Group to be vigilant in its role as the voice of the voiceless, as there continues to be so many people who sought SVSG’s assistance, for their troubles to be heard.

The SVSG Patron Tuisugaletaua Sofara Aveau in his keynote address reminded the SVSG Family that harder times are ahead with so many developments in the country, which requires SVSG’s work to be more proactive.

A traditional ava ceremony conducted by the SVSG village representatives welcomed the Directors from the SVSG sub-groups in Auckland and Christchurch New Zealand, Sydney, Queensland and Melbourne Australia.

The Chair of the SVSG Board and board members, the SVSG President and the executive members were all in attendance to welcome the SVSG Global family to the 2017 ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ Global Meeting.

The meeting will continue until Friday at the Insel Fehmarn Conference room, with Justice Vui Clarence Nelson to close off the meeting with his sharing and words of advice to end this year’s SVSG global gathering.

According to Georgina Lui “It was heartwarming to see once again the SVSG Global Family coming together, united in its stance to be the voice of the voiceless.” Chair of the SVSG Board.
