A friendship spanning forty years, it was only fitting that the two beautiful ladies celebrated a special day for one of them with the children. Through words of mouth, two friends Helen Luka and Brigid Ann McGrath from Auckland New Zealand found themselves at the Campus of Hope, home to the children survivors of violence and sexual abuse under the care of Samoa Victim Support Group.
The friends were on holiday and wanted to do something special at the same time. Through Ms. Esther Schmidt who visited the Campus years ago, the friends were made aware of the Campus. Esther’s late aunt Ms. Ana Schmidt was one of the founding members of the Group.
For the visiting friends, the day was made extra special because of Helen’s birthday, and spending it with the children was the difference this year’s birthday had brought to Helen. The children sang the birthday song and entertained the birthday girl. According to Helen, “this is the best birthday present for me.”
Thank you so much Helen for choosing to celebrate your birthday with the children of hope. Thank you also Esther Schmidt for making contact with SVSG to coordinate this special visit. The donation of $500 presented by Helen and Brigid will go a long way in supporting the daily needs of the children at the Campus.
